Josh Montanez - founder of Steady Scaling

About Josh Montanez

"Every site has my name on it. If something breaks, you text me directly."

— Josh Montanez, Founder

The Short Version

I spent 6 months building Steady Manager — a full SaaS product from scratch. Database architecture, security policies, authentication, the whole thing. Not because someone hired me to. Because I wanted to prove I could.

If I can build enterprise-grade software, I can build your website.

Now I use those same skills to build fast, SEO-optimized websites for local businesses. And I built my own SEO tools (SSARS) so I don't have to charge you $500/month for software subscriptions.

Why "Steady Scaling"

I like alliterations. But more than that — as a solo entrepreneur, I scale things steadily. With care. To perfection.

I'm not trying to be the biggest agency in Minneapolis. I'm trying to build websites and run SEO campaigns that I'd actually be proud to put my name on.

Every site has my name on it. If something breaks, you text me directly. Not a support ticket. Not a chatbot. Me.

How I Actually Build

AI writes about 95% of my code. I'm not ashamed of that — I'm proud of it.

Here's the thing: AI is a force multiplier for judgment. You feed it a good plan, it produces code, you use your judgment to refine it, run it, iterate. More iterations = better results.

While someone writes 100 lines by hand, I've shipped 10,000 iterations. That's not laziness — that's efficiency. And efficiency is why I can charge $500/year for a custom website instead of $5,000 upfront.

I didn't go to school for computer science. Lucky, actually — I never developed an ego about how code "should" be written. I just write code that works, ships fast, and doesn't break.

What I Don't Do

No corporate BS

Unclear CTAs, bloated solutions, creating problems that aren't there. If you've dealt with agencies that make everything complicated, you know what I mean.

No bloated packages

You don't need 47 features. You need a website that loads fast and shows up when people search for what you do.

No vanity metrics

I don't send reports about 'brand awareness' or 'engagement.' I show you clicks, calls, and rankings. Shit that matters.

No long contracts

Month-to-month SEO. Annual websites with no lock-in. If I'm not delivering, you should be able to leave.

Tools I Built (So You Don't Pay For Them)

Most agencies charge $300-500/month just for software — Ahrefs, SEMrush, BrightLocal. Then they mark it up and call it "proprietary tools."

I built SSARS (Steady Scaling Analytics & Ranking System) myself. Local grid ranking, competitor gap analysis, technical audits — all the enterprise-level stuff, without the enterprise-level invoice.

That's how I offer SEO starting at $100/month. I'm not eating the cost of expensive subscriptions. I built my own.

What I Actually Care About

I want to build things I'm proud of. That's it.

When I load up a program that's bloated and confusing, I delete it. When I see an agency charge $2,000/month for work a solo developer could do better, it pisses me off. When I meet a business owner who got burned by some marketing company that promised the moon and delivered nothing — I want to fix that.

If you signed up, paid, and regretted it after a few days — reach out. There's a good chance I'll refund you. I'd rather have happy clients than trapped ones.

Want to Work Together?

Tell me about your business. I'll tell you what I can do for it — honestly.
