What is crawlability?
Crawlability refers to search engines' ability to access and crawl your website's pages. If a page isn't crawlable, search engines can't index it, and it won't appear in search results.
What is robots.txt?
robots.txt is a text file at your website's root (domain.com/robots.txt) that tells search engine crawlers which pages they can and cannot access. It uses Disallow and Allow rules to control crawler behavior.
Why do I need a sitemap?
A sitemap (sitemap.xml) lists all the pages you want search engines to index. It helps them discover new content faster, especially pages with few internal links or new sites with limited backlinks.
What does noindex mean?
A noindex directive tells search engines not to include a page in search results. It can be set via meta robots tag or X-Robots-Tag HTTP header. Pages with noindex won't appear in Google search.
What is a redirect chain?
A redirect chain occurs when one URL redirects to another, which redirects to another, and so on. Long chains waste crawl budget and slow page loading. Best practice is to redirect directly to the final URL.
What's the difference between 301 and 302 redirects?
301 is a permanent redirect that passes link equity to the new URL. 302 is temporary and doesn't pass full link equity. Use 301 for permanent URL changes, 302 only for truly temporary moves.
